DIPLOMATICS is an Italian band formed in 2013 that embodies the vibrant sound of ’70s New York through a fusion of punk, new wave, and funk, characterized by a cool attitude and overwhelming energy. Diplomatics offers a rare, powerful, and modern rock ‘n’ roll, inspired by legends like The Rolling Stones, Velvet Underground, The Clash, The Saints, Devo, Gang of Four, Wire, Talking Heads, and The Stone Roses.

​With hundreds of concerts in Italy and Europe, they’ve shared the stage with artists such as Slaughter & The Dogs, Buzzcocks, Lisa & the Lips, Vic Godard, Dictators, The Kids, Fleshtones, Giuda, Oblivians, Nikki Corvette, and The Sonics, while continuing to write new music. Their self-titled debut EP (2013) and two albums, “Don’t Be Scared, Here Are The Diplomatics” (2014) and “I Lost My Soul In This Town” (2017), have been highly acclaimed both in Italy and abroad. In March 2018, the funk-tinged single “Keep Me Breathing” was released, and the band embarked on a European tour.

The band weathered the pandemic by continuing to make music: in November 2020, they released the single “Nevah,” followed by “Irish Whiskey” in January 2021. Both songs marked a slight shift toward new wave and post-punk sounds, while maintaining the band’s signature energy. In February 2022, they covered the Equals’ “Police On My Back,” made famous by the Clash. The band rearranged the song in a more restrained version, with a Lou Reed twist.

In early 2022, the band recorded their third album at Il Baito, a recording studio nestled in the woods, drawing inspiration from the evocative setting. Is It Time To Fly? was released by Go Down Records in December 2022 and features six previously unreleased tracks, as well as remastered versions of “Nevah” and “Irish Whiskey.” As they continue their European tour, Diplomatics remain committed to evolving their sound and maintaining a connection with their fans.
